VENUE DESCRIPTIONThe season starts in full action in Méribel with the Freestyle World Cup. The resort will host the second stage of the Freestyle World Cup 2010/11 on Wednesday 15 December. Les 3 Vallées, a mythical ski area, unique in the world for its immense size and quality has 350 ski runs, and is the worlds largest ski area. 85% of the ski area is above 1800m and over 1/3 equipped with snow-making facilities, 25 accessible summits, thanks to 174 ski lifts. Méribel enjoys a privileged position at the heart of Les 3 Vallées. The world’s best mogul skiers will fight using their best technique and creative skills. Taking place in the centre of the resort, this spectacular show attracts a large crowd. The events take place on a 26° to 32° slope, 210 to 270 metres long, filled with bumps and punctuated with two air bumps. The event comprises a qualification round and a final round. The score, awarded by the 7 judges, is based on technique (50%), jumps (25%) and speed (25%). Women and men qualification will take place in the morning. The final will be at 1.30pm and will be followed by a Big Air Show, some live music, and other entertainment. |
