VENUE DESCRIPTION

With eight years of experience in Skicross races, St. Johann in Tirol and Oberndorf is doubtless on top of the ranking in this discipline. On January, 7^th, 2011 the 3rd FIS Skicross Worldcup takes place on the foot of the Kitzbüheler Horn.

The race/event is located as close as possible to the spectators and the final as a night race – These are significant characteristics for the Skicross World Cup in St. Johann in Tirol / Oberndorf! The especially challenging race track will be the offbeat for the world cup season!

During the past 8 years the Skicross in St. Johann in Tirol and Oberndorf gained a special reputation amongst athletes, officials and spectators. As the only night race one could count the highest number of spectators.

To make the race even more interesting and spectacular for athletes as well as for the spectators, the organizers were not short of ideas for the event. The so called “Penzinghang” was completely rebuilt on a length of 400 metres. The race track got wider and the end of the race track, the “goal” is now even closer to the spectator area. The result is an extremely challenging race hill, with steep and flat parts.

Without a doubt the spectators will be magnetized, from nearly every place one will be able to have a view of the entire race track. In case this wouldn’t be enough, the spectators will be able to notice every little detail on the extra large Video Wall!
