The Freestyle Night 2010 is history

The eighth edition of the Freestyle Night was held this past Saturday, July 17th, at the water jump Jumpin in Mettmenstetten. As every year free skiers, snowboarders, BMX riders and ski acrobats showed off their impressive skills with different jumps. Despite the bad weather around 1,500 enthusiastic spectators came to Jumpin to witness the spectacle.

Already at 11 in the morning close to 100 competitors rushed into the cold water. By 4 pm the best 8 riders of each discipline were singled out by jumping qualifications. Last year's winner automatically qualified for the final round. The final spectacle started at 9.30 pm and the remaining athletes competed in exciting knockout duels against each other with the winner moving up to the next round. About one hour later, the four winners of this year 's Freestyle Night had been determined.

The ski acrobats with their up to 18m high jumps got the audience excited and were once again the highlight of the Freestyle Night. In the final of the ski acrobats, the two local heroes, Thomas Lambert and Andreas Isoz competed against each other. Thomas Lambert eventually won the duel against Isoz with a triple somersault with five screws. In the snowboard category, it was the Swiss Joel Staud, who came out ahead in a close final against Ben Chick. In the final duel of the boxers, last year's winner from Switzerland, Sven Müller, was beaten by the professional Red Bull rider Mislav Mironovic. In the discipline Fresski the Frenchman Valentin Benoit triumphed in his knock-out battle against John Drexel who came all the way from Germany for this event.
