The world’s greatest mogul and aerial skiers will descend on Ski Mont Gabriel this week as the mountain hosts the FIS World Cups in moguls and aerials this weekend.
The Gabriel event is the first North American FIS Freestyle World Cup stop of the season and 116 athletes from 15 countries will compete for $66,000 in prize money at the two-day event.
Although snow conditions have been a challenge this season, the team at Ski Mont Gabriel and an army of CFSA volunteers have been working around the clock to ensure that the aerial and dual mogul courses will be in top condition for the competitions.
Canadian Freestyle Ski Association officials said they expect record crowds for the free event which takes place on January 14 (Dual Moguls) and 15 (Aerials).“The Quebec stop is definitely an athlete favorite and the crowd here always comes out to support the team,” said Canada Freestyle CEO Peter Judge, adding that the majority of members on the Canadian Freestyle Team have their roots in the province.
