The highest ski resort in Europe and part of the largest linked ski area in the world - the Trois Vallées - it seems surprising that Val Thorens has yet to play host to a World Cup event in its over 50 year history. However, all of that will change for the 2012-13 season, as FIS Freestyle is bringing World Cup ski cross to Val Thorens' slopes.
Located in the Tarentaise Valley in the Savoie provence of France, Val Thorens is known for abundant snowfall, challenging terrain, and for possessing one of the largest cable car lifts in the world.
